My go to place on a Saturday night. Great for parties of 10 or more. I've always had success reserving for a party of 10+ at 7ish pm on Saturday nights. My go-to's are their crispy beef, shrimp tempura, or anyone of their specialty sushi rolls. Service is good and food comes out timely. I frequent this place so highly recommend.

We visited Kumo Asian Bistro in our continuing quest to find the best sushi in Alexandria. Even though Kumo is in a standard, nondescript strip mall, once you get inside, it's a large, spacious restaurant with plenty of seating and a sizable bar. We ordered the Black Pepper Tuna Tataki - five slices of tuna sushi, seasoned with black pepper - delicious. We also got the five-spice fried calamari - crispy with the option of dipping into tangy katsu sauce and/or eating with crispy jalapenos. Then the Salmon Teryaki Bento Box, which didn't come in a box, and I think that's because there aren't boxes big enough to hold everything - tasty salmon with a teryaki glaze, large fried shrimp, shumai and a california roll. Since we had a big group, we also got shrimp fried rice and a standout crispy shredded beef. Huge portions, tasty bites! Only afterwards did we realize, we never ordered more sushi than the tataki appetizer. That just means we'll have to visit again!

I moved here the beginning of this year and have been trying to find a go to sushi spot and I'm happy to say this place is it. The service here is great the servers are always attentive and fast at getting you seated and your order taken asap. The food here is absolutely superb! the sashimi is always made fresh and beautifully presented. The sushi is a hit, they have a good variety of rolls and it will be easy for you to choose your go to. The ambiance is good for a good dinner for two, lunch meeting and good place to bring even the family.

This sushi is among the best I've had in the DMV and on par with the great suburban sushi joints of California. I had lunch here, and service was fast. The first roll was a Kaiju roll. The tempura fry was perfect-- flavorful and crispy. The fish was fresh. My guest and I left stuffed and ready to come back again. The interior is clean as well. I highly recommend this place for any sushi lover and their guests.

I have been a frequent customer of Kumo for the past 12 years. During the Pandemic they only did carry out and delivery. This month I have visited them four times. Here are my observations: Service: AWESOME!!! They have really gone from outstanding to AWESOME! Food: OUTSTANDING! I don't work close to Kumo anymore, so I tried multiple sushi places and they all suck. Kumo has the best Sushi in Northern Virginia. I have become an addict to the their lunch menu. Check it out on their site, better yet, go there for lunch. You can get 3 high quality Sushi Rolls, a Miso soup or a Salad for ~$18.00. Ambiance: Nice super clean environment. Great place for Lunch or to take a date in the evening. I strongly recommend this great hidden gem.

This was my second visit at Kumo. I figured it would be empty but that was not the case. This place must be a go to for sushi and other Asian cuisine. The take out and inside of the restaurant were very busy with patrons.

What looks like your typical Americanized Japanese restaurant (and is inside of a strip mall) is actually a fantastic spot with a huge selection of options Tons of both classic and unique sushi roles, other Japanese, dishes, and a few dishes from some other Asian cuisines as well The service here is very fast, and the servers are very attentive I got a miso soup and a specialty sushi roll and it was all very delicious

BLUF: the food is tasty, but it doesn't quite match it's menu description Four of us went on a Friday night. The wait staff was very friendly, but it seemed like they just couldn't wait to take a plate off your table. If you're not quite done with something you kind of have to lean over it to make sure they don't snap it up on the way by. I would recommend getting a reservation if you go on a weekend. The place was quite full and I was glad I made a reservation ahead of time. We didn't have any drinks or anything so here's a rundown of the food: - Thai Beef Basil: it was actually relatively Bland, especially when you consider it had one of those little peppers next to it on the menu to indicate it was spicy. I ended up having to add a little wasabi from my Sushi to it to spice it up. The beef was well cooked and the gravy was very good. - Teriyaki Vegetable: quite good, with pretty good fresh veggies thrown in - Octopus sushi: very good. Wasn't rubbery like I often find, but it was a bit of a thin slice considering you're paying about 3.50 a piece for it - Veggie gyoza: very good, with a nice crisp sear on it and veggies inside tasted fresh - Herndon Roll: very good, with a nice balance of rice and fish - Spicy Salmon and Yellowtail Roll: the role itself was pretty good, but again didn't live up to the spicy label put on it on the menu. If I were in the area I would go back, but I would definitely stick to the sushi.
